STAFF ADJUSTER POSITION INTRO
ARS is seeking an experienced commercial property claims professional to join our team as a remote desk adjuster and help us deliver world-class, expertise-driven claims services.
Please note that Farm and Agribusiness experience is not required; we are seeking an adjuster with at least 5 years of COMMERCIAL PROPERTY claims experience.

PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Help ARS be “the best in the world” at what we do, and do not ever settle for mediocrity. Use every assignment as an opportunity to learn and grow as a professional.
- Perform as Commercial Property desk adjuster. Set up claims files upon receiving notices of loss. Investigate, evaluate, and resolve coverage and damage issues, including obtaining, evaluating, and refining complete repair estimates for covered damages. Maintain thorough file documentation following company service expectations and best practices.
- Deliver excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders. Communicate with compassion and clarity to policyholders regarding coverage application and limits, policyholder duties, and process expectations. Perform with a high level of polish and professionalism, in all spoken and written communications. Address internal and external business challenges in a graceful and tactful manner. Complete all duties with a high degree of urgency, thoroughness, and accuracy.
- Thoroughly review policy language and ensure proper and thorough application of policy intent. Evaluate incurred damage potential and set reserves based on current exposure. Update reserves based on additional data or facts gathered.
- Settle claims fairly and efficiently. Ensure that payments are timely issued and that liability releases are obtained as needed to affect the efficient resolutions of claims.
- Perform all duties within the authority granted and according to company procedures. Escalate issues proactively if an exposure has the potential to exceed an authority limit. Provide recommendations and request additional authority as appropriate.
- Coordinate vendor services such as contractors, emergency repair, cleaning services, and various replacement services.
- Maintain knowledge of relevant local, state, and federal statutes and regulatory requirements. Stay current with changing legislation, share knowledge with colleagues, and apply information as appropriate. Ensure compliance with all regulations and Fair Claims Practices Guidelines at all times.
- Identify suspicious losses. Recommend referral to SIU where appropriate; assist the SIU as requested.
- Participate in large/complex exposure file analyses and strategy development via roundtable discussions.
- Perform all duties with a high degree of urgency. Ensure that all tasks are properly executed on time, 100% of the time.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
WHAT WE MINIMALLY REQUIRE - YOUR EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLSET:
- 5+ years of COMMERCIAL PROPERTY claims experience. Excellent knowledge of construction/reconstruction. Expertise in coordinating estimators, engineers, forensic accountants, and other vendors in adjusting property damage and business interruption claims. Experience directly handling litigated cases, directing and coordinating with defense counsel.
- At least one of the following: (A) a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, (B) an Associate In Claims (AIC) designation, or (C) a CPCU or AFIS designation.
- Excellent knowledge of COMMERCIAL PROPERTY claims coverages and principles. Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and apply appropriate professional knowledge while reading/reviewing insurance policy forms, contracts, business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
- Professional and polished in verbal and written communication. Proficient in composing polished and professional written communications, including claims documents and structural damage estimates.
- Proficient at creating estimates with Xactimate; proficient with other modern business technologies such as word processing and spreadsheet software.
- Excellent customer service and negotiation skills, with the strong ability to resolve challenging situations with a patient and calm demeanor.
- Excellent critical thinker and problem-solver. Strong ability to think logically leveraging personal judgment and experience to reach appropriate determinations under pressure, applying contractual provisions, regulations, and applicable law in the context of the facts and circumstances.
- Exceptional organization and time-management skills, with an excellent ability to effectively and independently manage a fluid workload.
- Ability to obtain and maintain proper adjuster licensing and continuing education as required.
REMOTE POSITION / HOME OFFICE / TIME ZONE REQUIREMENTS:
- This is a 100% remote position. As such, adherence to remote-work best practices is required, which includes (but is not limited to) having an appropriate professional home-office set-up, with reliable high speed internet. The space used for the office must be a separate enclosed room with a door that closes and that has professional decor appropriate for video conferencing.
- As this is a remote position, candidates may live anywhere in the United States. However, working either EASTERN or CENTRAL time business hours is required.
